“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 (NIV)

Recovery has taught me that I don’t have to fight every battle in my own strength. My first step is to submit to God, to surrender my thoughts, temptations, fears, anger, and struggles to Him. Then I can resist the things that try to pull me back into the life God has brought me out of.

The enemy may remind us of our past, tempt us with old habits, or try to convince us that we haven’t really changed. But we don’t have to listen. We can turn to God, stand firm in what He says about us, and keep moving forward. Recovery is about surrendering to God one day at a time and trusting Him with the battle.

Prayer

God, help me surrender everything to You today. Give me strength to resist anything that tries to pull me away from You or back into my old ways. Help me stay close to You and keep moving forward.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
