“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Sometimes I think rest means everything around me has to be peaceful. No problems, no worries, and nothing weighing on my mind. But Jesus doesn’t tell us to get everything figured out and then come to Him. He tells us to come while we are weary and carrying our burdens.
I’m learning that I don’t have to carry everything into a new day or a new week. I can bring the things I’m worried about, the things I can’t control, and even the things I don’t understand to Jesus. Rest doesn’t always mean my circumstances change. Sometimes it means remembering that I don’t have to face them alone.
Today, I want to slow down and remember who is carrying me. Whatever this next week holds, Jesus is already there. I can rest knowing that I am loved, I am held, and I don’t have to have everything figured out.
Prayer
God, thank You for being my place of rest. Help me give You the things I keep trying to carry on my own. Quiet my mind, strengthen my faith, and help me trust You with the week ahead.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
